You are likely aware of an order issued by Scott Harris, State Health Officer in Alabama, on March 19 which prohibits gatherings of 25 people or more due to concerns over COVID-19. However, it is critical to note that these orders do not bar employees from coming to work who are able to maintain a six-foot distance between each other.
In addition, we believe that our team members and company make numerous products and provide services that are essential to the waste industry, which is considered critical infrastructure (see attached letter from our customer Waste Management.)
We have therefore made the decision that our facilities in AL will remain open, and will continue to operate according to normal schedules until further notice to support our customers and our communities.
The safety of our employees is of the highest importance to us. We have taken and will continue to take, all appropriate steps to ensure the safety of our employees, including the attached social distancing steps from Ken Chandler, VP of Operations & Supply Chain.
We will continue to closely follow guidance regarding these orders and continue to monitor the COVID-19 crisis as it develops and take appropriate action and response as necessary in the days to come. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this decision or the impact, please contact your direct supervisor or HR Business Partner.
